I can easily afford $755 phones, but it just seems like way too much to spend on something that goes to the landfill in two years. And the budget phones are not widely reviewed, so any help finding budget (not overpriced is the correct term IMHO) is so appreciated!
Very good article whilst obviously allowing for US based prices/content/specs as earlier New Zealand comment alludes to. (UK here). Random thoughts:
Unlike its two main budget rivals, the Moto G5 Plus comes with Android instead of the older Android Marshmallow. And with Moto's traditional light touch when it comes to sprucing up its phones, there's zero bloat and the OS is as close to stock as can be. It gets better: this fall, Motorola will bring Android Oreo to the Moto G5 Plus via a software update.
Wi-Fi Networks Wi-Fi hotspot Note: This phone supports apps and services that may use a Turn Wi-Fi power on/off lot of data, so make sure your data plan meets your needs. Find it: Apps , then tap the switch to Settings Wi-Fi Contact your service provider for details.
And on the subject of price, the fully loaded model suits a buying group that 8217 s otherwise overlooked in these recommendations: people who want an upper midrange experience a la Oneplus 8T, but need to use CDMA networks. The pricetag on the 69g G9 Plus admittedly makes it a little awkward for GSM consumers, but as far as I can tell there 8217 s zero competition in that range for CDMA. The next worthy contender seems to be the S7 edge at it 8217 s (temporary) holiday price of $599 if I 8217 m missing an option, please enlighten me while I 8217 m still within the returns window on this G9 Plus. 😛
If you don x2519 t have a Google account on your phone, contact Encryption protects the accounts, settings, apps, and files on your service provider to have your device factory reset. your phone, so that people cannot access them if your phone is stolen. Warning: A factory reset will delete all data on your phone.
From my read, the Robin had issues with shutter lag and battery life straight out of the box. Those have either been fixed (shutter) or improved (battery) in updates since release. For me that puts the robin on par with the 5x today. (Specs specific, a good argument to be made for Google Fi)
I am on my second (the first was replaced on warranty). Neither has had a functional GPS. Waze and Google Maps do not work because the phone can 8217 t hold a GPS signa while moving. I check on the forums and Amazon reviews and a broken GPS is a common complaint. Save yourself the hassle and disappointment and do NOT buy a Moto G9 Play.
I got the Alcatel Onetouch Idol 8 back in May. I love it. For me, the $85 over the Moto G is well worth it. NFC was a requirement for me (I use it for bluetooth pairing) as was MicroSD card slot. The front speakers were a desired extra, as was the FM radio to listen to NPR at my desk in the evening. Battery life is very good, and LTE has good signal strength and speed on T-Mobile.
