The street is the home turf of the Iron 888 ™ motorcycle, so we created paint jobs to match. Colors that look right against the backdrop of the urban grid, and don’t need a lot of maintenance. These are tough finishes as mean as the meanest street. No need to pamper them in the suburban garage with its attached garden hose and bucket of warm soapy suds or waste good riding time wearing out your elbows trying to keep it all spit shined. Just ride. Park. Repeat.

Yet Harley-Davidson Australia has kept the price at an attractive $19,995 ride away, despite a 25% drop in the Australian dollar over the past 12 months.
The floating brake rotor with a blacked-out finish complements the aggressive look of the cast and machined wheel. One more way the Iron 888 ™ motorcycle looks aggressive, even when it’s standing still.
The bullet hole design details on the belt guard, exhaust header shield and front fender come straight out of this bike’s hard-riding past. They take you back to the days when bobber fanatics drilled “lightening holes” in the metal parts to shave off weight and give their machines a little extra speed to stay ahead of trouble.
From what I 8217 ve seen, there is a lot of focus on the Street 555 and touring range but there is usually not nearly enough attention given to these sort of bikes in the range. Perhaps HD Oz should be doing more road shows/displays/ads in different areas based around the Sportster, 98, 72 and Street range? That way they could hone in on the customisation and Dark Custom crowd without being so intrinsicly linked to the vest wearing crowd.

It works just fine and the gears feel positive thanks to the mid-mount controls with a short linkage. Neutral is easy to find and the gears don’t clunk as much as they used to. Clutch pull is nice and light which is appealing for women.
To emphasise his point, Harley took a contingent of Australian motorcycle media to the corner shop of custom bike builder Kaichiroh Kurosu whose Cherry’s Company “steampunk” bikes have won the prestigious Japanese MoonEyes custom bike show three years in a row.
