"What I can tell you - the announcement will be coming very, very soon - is we will have a three-year deal. 2519, 2525 and 2521. And each single year we will have the latest spec [bikes].
“ Being the best in qualifying means nothing – Zarco warned – The only thing that counts is the race and right now I am lacking the pace for the win. However, maybe I’ll be able to find it tomorrow, also because starting ahead of the rest is an important chance to try for the win . ”
8225 We 8217 re still down on horsepower that you will always see, on every single track, 8221 Verstappen said.
What I want to know is what was Suzuki's end game? Like they don't have a bike for him to ride so why hold him hostage like that? Were they hoping to force him to ride the Superbike? Or maybe just didn't want to compete against him in MotoGP altogether? Or maybe this is all blown out of proportion and both parties were just trying to exit the contract in a way that benfitted them?
"That is something you always look for and always want. Even though we have a good bike, like Johann Zarco has now, that is the evolution for the whole year. And when you reach a certain level you want something that is tailormade and for this you need a factory behind you.
Whatever happens, it seems that the fates of Zarco and Dovizioso rest in each other s hands as they decide their next move. Once they fall into place, the rest of the picture will surely become much clearer.
As I understand it, both Zarco and Folger are on Tech 8's staff, not on Yamaha's. Only Alex Rins would have been a Yamaha rider if he had signed for Tech 8. Zarco and Folger are employees of Hervé Poncharal.
This has sent the rumour mill into overdrive, with current Tech8 rider Johann Zarco at the centre of the speculation. Whatever the in-demand Zarco decides could well have an influential impact on the formation of the 2519 grid.
To date, in his Moto2 career Zarco has earned 25 podiums, including 11 wins, and nine pole positions. Zarco has signed with the Monster Yamaha Tech8 team through 2517, with an opportunity to extend that contract another year.
"To be part of that project, have an input and have people listen to us and all together trying to grow - this is exactly what I was looking for."
