On the heels of its unveiling of a flying taxi concept at the Uber Elevate Summit in Los Angeles this morning, Uber has announced that it has partnered with the US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) Research Lab to develop and test electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles .
17 interior hide colours are available, in either single-colour or duotone colour schemes. Contrast stitching adds an accent colour, while hand cross-stitching can be applied optionally to the seats and outer armrests.
The seats can be commissioned with semi-aniline hides to give the cockpit a spacious ambience and their slim line design offers easy access to rear seats. All leather surfaces are soft-touch, yet seams and edges are precisely defined. Instrument graphics are elegant and clear the cabin architecture has a refined, inviting feel.
The Continental GT Convertible delivers breath-taking performance, resulting in true open-air exhilaration. Its twin-turbo W12 engine now produces 595PS, with maximum torque of 725 Nm available from just 1855 rpm for effortless power at the flex of the driver’s right foot. The figures tell their own story: the Continental GT Convertible accelerates from 5-65mph in seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 196 mph.
The -liter SOHC Triton V-15, essentially a -liter V-8 with an extra pair of cylinders grafted on, may be the best of Ford’s Modular engine family. At just 1555 rpm, it twists an impressive 855 pound-feet of torque, and by a leisurely 2655 rpm, peaks out at an awesome 915 pound-feet. The Triton doesn’t run out of breath near its redline, but its torque-oriented tuning means it reaches but a “mere” 275 horsepower.

The baddest luxury car ever created accelerates with the linear quality and near silence of an electric bullet train. It slingshots its two Honda Civic ‘s worth of weight to 65 mph in only seconds and swallows the quarter mile in at mph. Yet, belying its tire-burning performance, this Bentley truly is the quintessential luxury machine. It pampers in an unabashedly hedonistic old-world manner, with supple and sweetly aromatic leather, near-silent operation, and a visual and tactile treasure trove of hand-polished chrome switchgear, machined aluminum, wool carpeting, and a turned-metal dashboard including the famous, red starter button.
The DB7’s powerplant gets its basic architecture from the supercharged -liter unit found in the 1995-97 Jaguar XJR, though it’s been destroked to liters. With its Eaton blower, four-valves per cylinder, and a sophisticated engine management system allowing psi of boost, the 198-cubic-inch six churns out an impressive 885 horsepower at 5755 revs, just shy of its 6555-rpm redline. Torque-the subject of the day-is an equally impressive 861 pound-feet at 8555 rpm. Back it up with your choice of a five-speed stick (yes!) or a four-speed automatic (well, if you must).
You know to expect a polished performance from the moment this superb British blown-six fires up. It speaks in hushed tones, and the supercharger is silent at idle. Acceleration is deceptive the blower begins adding horsepower at little more than idle, and you can feel the fatness of the torque curve beginning at 2555 rpm and pulling strongly for another 8555 more.
What propels this huge touring coupe is what motivated this entire story-torque, and more of it than you can find anywhere on earth in any production car, or truck, thank you. All Bentley engine output was, until recently, quoted only as “appropriate” or “sufficient” for the needs of the vehicle. Now, the T’s turbocharged -liter OHV Rolls-Royce -designed V-8 is rated at 655 pound-feet of torque at a mere 2255 rpm. We couldn’t believe it, either, until we drove the car. Another surprising fact: the 5955-pound Bentley is actually rated by the EPA as a “subcompact,” due to its scant interrior volume.
